About LiveSpark

LiveSpark is the premiere Bay Area creator and rental provider of exquisite, innovative fire installations suitable for events at all scales. Our exclusive technology produces flames that react to music, just like a graphic equalizer in fire; from jaw dropping bursts all the way down to elegant votive candle-sized flames.

LiveSpark combines digital control and fine art to provide custom sculptural works for rent at premiere parties, weddings, launches, and gala events for any occasion. From indoor and outdoor fireplaces, chandeliers, fire pits or torches, our mission is to make beautiful, innovative fire showpieces accessible for every event.

The Team

Brett Levine has been building software companies and large-scale interactive fire sculptures for almost a decade. In 2003, he created The Hydrogen Economy, where participants ignite hydrogen bubbles that explode. As co-creator of PyroCardium, Brett built a sculpture that responds in fire to the human heartbeat. Furthering his work of digitally controlled fire, Brett founded False Profit Labs in 2008. Since then the group has attracted over 50 contributors, has received four Burning Man Honoraria grants, including 2010, and has brought five large-scale interactive fire sculptures to over a dozen events, including Burning Man, Coachella, Electric Daisy Carnival, Yuri’s Night at NASA, Maker Faire, and Fire Arts Festival. The False Profit Labs vision of Better Art Through Science has drawn attention from numerous media outlets including the SF Chronicle, LA Times, NBC, Wired and 944 Magazine.

In 2009 Brett founded LiveSpark a commercial venture dedicated to building unique fire sculptures with the safety and reliability necessary for permanent installation in a wide range of commercial and residential venues.

Mike Thielvoldt received a masters in mechanical engineering from Stanford University with a focus on fluid dynamics and electronics.  In 2008 he was granted an Honorarium from Burning Man for Lepidodgera. He uses his professional mechanical engineering skills to develop LiveSpark Flame Elements and is the principle engineer of the LiveSpark Chandelier.

Erik Walker brings elite industrial design experience to the LiveSpark team.  He was lead designer on the 2009 False Profit Labs project, Carbon Garden, and is the lead designer on the sculptural aspects of the LiveSpark Chandelier. He has over a decade of experience building large-scale sculptures, made of unique materials including fabrics.
